Synopsis

DATA FLESH is an algorithmic incantation that revives images, an essay that invokes internet archives, slaves of humanity and infinite scroll. Using generative techniques they create a future that only they can imagine.

  Director

  Felipe Elgueta is a filmmaker and Documentary Film professor at the University of Chile. He specialized in Contemporary Media at LAV (Madrid). He works as a VFX and AI post-producer in film. His short films «SNAP» (2018) and «Vertical Shadow» (2021) have been showcased at festivals such as Visions du Reel (Switzerland), Clermont-Ferrand (France), NEMAF (South Korea), Docs MX (Mexico), and Exp22 (Barcelona). Currently, he is involved in film projects integrating computational programming in Machine Learning, NeRF, VR, and 3D. He currently resides and works in Barcelona. His latest short film, «DATA FLESH» (2024), will have its world premiere at the Annecy Animation Festival.

  A film producer best known for «Los Huesos» by León and Cociña (Best Short Film Award at the 2021 Venice Film Festival), the experimental short film «Vitanuova» by Niles Atallah (2023; FICUNAM, FIDMarseille, Ottawa IAFF, ZINEBI); «A Bright Island» by Pedro Fontaine (2023; PÖFF Shorts); «DATA FLESH» by Felipe Elgueta (2024; World Premiere at Annecy 2024), the latest feature film by Martín Rejtman «La Práctica» (premiered at San Sebastián 2023). He is also the producer of the project «Blow by Blow» by Diego Cumplido, a multidisciplinary exhibition showcased at Matucana 100 in December 2022; the project «Titanic, a deep emotion» by artist Claudia Bitrán, an experimental polyptych documentary feature in post-production. Additionally, he is the executive producer of the feature films «Invunche» by Rodrigo Susarte (in post-production) and «The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo» by Diego Céspedes (in pre-production).
