• President Boric will lead a state visit to India, to which Paula Ossandón, director of the Chilean documentary sector brand and a member of the executive team of the Chilean Documentary Corporation (CCDoc), has been invited. The visit aims to foster commercial partnerships and collaborations in technology and culture.
• The presidential delegation will visit New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore from April 1 to 5. It will include six ministers, eight parliamentarians, and more than 30 guests. Among the prominent figures from the cultural and creative industries are the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, Carolina Arredondo, and the Director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández.
• “Participating in this official state visit to India is an honor and a great challenge for the sector,” says Ossandón. Among the events she will attend is the Shoot in Chile forum, which aims to promote Chile as a destination for international film production.
Starting on April 1, President Gabriel Boric Font, along with his delegation, will arrive in New Delhi, followed by visits to Mumbai and Bangalore, where they will hold official meetings with authorities from the Asian country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu.
“India is a country with great potential for our commerce and offers us important opportunities to grow and diversify our exports, which are key objectives of our administration,” stated Ignacio Fernandez, General Director of ProChile, who will be part of the presidential delegation. “We see great opportunities for collaboration in the creative industries sector. A few weeks ago, a delegation of Bollywood producers visited Chile, met with trade unions and professionals from the audiovisual sector, and visited locations in Atacama, Valparaíso, and Santiago. We want to take advantage of this momentum during this presidential tour.”
In the words of Paula Ossandón: «India represents a great opportunity for the development of the Chilean documentary industry, thanks to its commercial potential and access to new audiences. There, documentary-focused festivals and training opportunities for non-fiction are proliferating. Both cinematographies share an interest in themes such as indigenous peoples and cultures, social movements, the environment, and more. There is a whole world to explore where we can position the exportable documentary offering and create commercial ties and co-production opportunities between the two countries.»
Among the official activities in which the delegation will participate is Shoot in Chile, an exclusive event that showcases our country as a top-tier destination for film and TV production. This event will bring together renowned leaders from the Indian film industry, offering collaboration opportunities in the audiovisual sector. It will take place in Mumbai, the epicenter of India’s film industry, also known as Bollywood.
The agenda also includes participation in the Chile-India Business Forum, an event that will bring together prominent business leaders from Chile and India to explore trade, investment, and strategic collaborations, strengthening bilateral relations through key industries such as the creative industries, technological innovation, and the agri-food sector.
Another official event will be the Chile-India Innovation Summit 2025 in Bangalore, an exclusive forum that will bring together key stakeholders from both countries to explore innovation ecosystems and foster collaboration in cutting-edge industries. Industry leaders will engage in insightful discussions on innovation, investment, and strategic partnerships between Chile and India.
To make the most of this opportunity, Chiledoc is working on an agenda to expand business opportunities for Chilean non-fiction.
