Synopsis

In Chile, more than 20,000 minors went abroad for international adoptions, mainly during the Pinochet dictatorship. Currently, two judges are investigating hundreds of complaints. Adoptees, biological mothers and victims’ groups seek the truth in a parallel and persistent way, revealing the crude reality of the theft and trafficking of children in Chile where a tale of terror looms.

  Filmmaker and documentarian. He is an author with a long career in making documentary feature films that have been screened and awarded at prestigious international festivals, such as: IDFA (Netherlands), FidMarseille (France), Miami Film Festival (USA), Bafici (Argentina). ), It’s All True (Sao Paulo, Brazil), among others. His most outstanding and award-winning unitary works are «Nema Problema», «El Corredor», and Kawase-San. His themes have been identity, travel, and what can be defined as a vocation for «the encounter with the different» in order to address interculturality from intimacy and fragility, permanently seeking the intersection between subjectivity and audiovisual narrative. This artistic exploration has motivated him to film constantly in various countries around the world for the past two decades. He has obtained outstanding recognitions in Chile for his career: “Altazor” Award for the Arts, obtaining eleven nominations and seven awards as “Best Director of Non-fiction Television”; “Bicentennial” Award (2010), awarded by the Circle of Art Critics; «Medal of Honor» awarded by the Senate for Professional Trajectory. He is the creator and director of more than a dozen original series for television. His most recent series are: «Colonia Dignidad» (2021), and «Adopted, the story we are missing» (2023).
