Synopsis

Eight scientific teams are navigating the effects of global warming in Antarctica to uncover data to combat climate change, even as glaciers are already retreating, and different animals are gearing up to face it.

    Patricio Quezada (his pseudonym is Picho) wrote and directed his first university short film “Lazos Color Púrpura” in 2015, and since then, he has produced different cinematographic works about HIV/AIDS: Hilo Rojo (2019), HIV from indigenous peoples, and The Migrant Route of AIDS (2022), premiered at the World AIDS Conference in Canada, exposing the migratory crisis in northern Chile. “Homo sapiens antarcticus” is his first feature-length documentary and was born from the 2020 Antarctic Scientific Expedition organized by the Chilean Antarctic Institute. He has participated in various film projects in other roles such as line producer or art director. Furthermore, one of his greatest interests is the composition and production of music.
