A film essay that starts from the home archive of my uncle Jorge, who recorded during 35 years the most beautiful images of the daily life of our family of policemen in the 90s. One Christmas my uncle filmed me with my first camera. The film dialogues between our images, I imitate him in making them. I wonder about the heritage and the reason for filming, everything points to the future. I don’t want to be a cop when editing the images.
Director
«Night Vision» is her first feature film. Later, she premiered the short film «Aprender a construir casas, Boceto 1» in Korea, and the documentary series «The Owners, Portraits of Work at Home» on national television. She is currently in post-production for her second feature film “I will never be a cop” and in development for the fiction feature “Piñen”, based on the novel of the same name by Daniela Catrileo. She is also the editor of “Antitropical” by Camila José Donoso and a lecturer in the Film programs at the University of Chile, among other teaching activities.
Producer
Camila José Donoso’s cinema is one of transformation. Throughout her three films: «Naomi Campbel» (2013), «Casa Roshell» (2017), and «Nona. If They Soak Me, I’ll Burn Them» (2019), the Chilean director, born in 1988, built a body of work based on aesthetic experimentation and powerful invention that addresses urgent issues of our time. Her films achieve transformation through reinvention, which often occurs through the bodies of the people filmed. Camila’s films have been showcased in major festivals such as Rotterdam, Cinema du Reel, Berlinale, Locarno, FicValdivia, Mar del Plata, among others.
On the other hand, together with Carolina Moscoso, she develops theory, exhibition, and education around cinema through the Escuela de Cinema Experimental Transfrontera, in Arica, Tacna, and Tijuana— a border and cinematic encounter.
Currently, she is editing her fourth film, Antitropical, recently awarded the Audiovisual Fund in Chile, and producing «I Will Never be a Cop» by Carolina Moscoso, a documentary that won the 2021 Hubert Bals Development Fund, as well as the jury award at FidLab of FidMarseille.
