Synopsis

After the death of a renowned Lonko, or Mapuche leader, his children must decide who will continue to lead their community. Whoever wins this ‘succession story’ must face up to the encroaching problems of Catholicism, a troubled relationship with the Chilean State, as well as the repossession of their stolen lands and the palpable legacy of their father.

    Director

    Journalist and documentalist, Master in Public Policy from the University of Bristol. «Lonko» is his feature documentary directorial debut. In 2021 he premiered the short film «Anum Lawenche», official selection at the SILBERSALZ Science & Media Awards Festival in Germany and at the Fiorenzo Serra Film Festival in Italy. That same year he premiered his first documentary series as a director, «Secreto Ancestral», which won the «Gran Premio Nuestra América 2022» from the Latin American public channel network TAL TV.

    Documentalist, Journalist and Graduate in Social Communication, she has dedicated her 25-year career as a producer, director, scriptwriter and researcher. Her productions have won various international awards, including an EMMY Award nomination. “Chicago Boys”, her debut feature as a director, won Best Direction at Sanfic 2016, Pedro Sienna Award 2016 for Best Documentary and Nuestra América Award at DOCSMX Festival 2016, Best Documentary Sunscreen Film Festival 2017.

Executive producer, director and editor of dozens of series and documentaries that have received numerous international awards, such as: Sanfic 2016 Best Director, Pedro Sienna 2016 Award for Best Documentary, Nuestra América Award at the 2016 DOCSMX Festival, and Best Documentary Award at Sunscreen Film Festival 2017, all for “Chicago Boys”, his first Opera Prima, co-directed with Carola Fuentes.

His productions have won various international awards, including an EMMY Award nomination. He has produced content for international channels such as Asahi TV, Univisión, ARTE, Canal Encuentro and Al Jazeera, and co-produced with Armenia, the Basque Country, BBC Scotland, Señal Colombia and Al Jazeera.
