The discovery of some forgotten files in a museum in Berlin motivates a trip that reveals one of the darkest and most silenced episodes in the history of Chile and Argentina. Margarita, a young Mapuche academic, discovers the testimonies of indigenous people who were deported and stripped of their lands during the military campaigns of the 19th century. Moved by the discovery, she embarks on a journey to walk the deportation paths that her ancestors made one hundred years ago.
Director
Director. She studied Architecture at the Hochschule der Künste (1992) and Film and Television Directing at the Deutsche Film-und Fernsehakademie in Berlin (2002). She makes documentaries on social and cultural issues, including the renowned Volver a vernos and JAAR el lamento de las imágenes.
Producer
Director and Producer. She has produced award-winning documentaries such as Allende my grandfather Allende, L’Œil d’or for best documentary Cannes IFF 2015; Cielo (Canada – Chile) and Haydee and the flying fish (Chile – Brazil); and directed recognized documentaries such as Genoveva, La Última Huella and Frontera.
Assistant Director and Researcher
Journalist with a degree in Social Communication from the Diego Portales University, Santiago de Chile. She has carried out documentary research and directing assistance for feature films by prestigious directors such as Francisco Hervé (La Península De Los Volcanes, El Poder de la Palabra); Paola Castillo (Genoveva, Frontera); Lorena Giachino (The Great Poor Timothy Circus, The Directive); Maite Alberdi (The mole agent); Ana María Hurtado (The Inca Prince); Paula Godoy (We Still Have a Homeland); Sergio Castro (El Negro) and Pablo Basulto (Successive Monogamous). She has carried out work in journalistic editing, investigation and journalistic production, and production for Chilean and foreign television.
Producer
Argentine film producer. She has produced more than 25 feature films. Mentor of several training and project development initiatives such as IDFA Academy, EAVE Puentes, Campus Latino, CCDoc and Conecta. Member of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences of the United States.
